With flights from the UK becoming cheaper due to the ready availability of low-cost flights, more people are choosing to take a quick break abroad than stay in the UK.
Recognising this emerging trend, credit card companies, in an attempt to lure in customers, are offering Brits 'free' travel insurance cover.
Experts however are urging the need to investigate the small print in these policies carefully, before relying on them while overseas.
Moneysavingexpert.com's Martin Lewis claims that some of these policies are in fact 'pretty worthless'.
'Travel accident insurance which comes with credit cards only covers you for an accident on a bus, train, hire car or plane paid for using that card,' he explained, exposing the need to always take out adequate insurance cover.
Travel insurance means that if an accident happens overseas, the policy holder will not be left with expensive medical or accommodation bills for example.
