Sound financial advice is the thing that expatriates find most valuable when moving abroad, a new survey finds.
Moving or travelling overseas requires detailed planning and the purchasing of travel insurance should always be considered as far in advance as possible.
More than three in four expats find financial advice invaluable, including help with setting up a bank account, help with taxes and general advice before moving abroad.
When people travel out to sunnier climbs to investigate their new country before moving there permanently, it is still important to take out travel insurance to cover themselves in case of emergency.
"It can sometimes feel overwhelming, but it's important that you arrange everything properly before you go to ensure that everything goes smoothly when you arrive," said Keith Biddlestone, managing director of Bupa International.
The emphasis that Brits place on their finances when emigrating was highlighted when the survey revealed that only 37 per cent rated finding a school for their child as important. In comparison, three quarters of Brits found help with bank accounts invaluable.
With adequate travel insurance, families can rest assured that they will receive assistance overseas if needed.
