Nadaam, Mongolia's largest festival, is underway until July 13th.

If you fancy donning a waistcoat and briefs, you too can wrestle with the local tribes people as they compete for the name of Titan.

However, you are advised to check your holiday insurance as the competition is taken very seriously and people take part in a range of potentially damaging activities, ranging from wrestling and riding to archery competitions. Plus, there might even be some arrow dodging.

In general competitors use traditional, age-old sporting techniques and riding without a saddle could also be hazardous.

If you're trying to impress that special someone with your prowess, beware: the riding competition attracts athletes as young as five. Losing to a junior could be highly embarrassing, as well as highly dangerous, as riders guide their mounts over bushes, fences and even trees.

The Opening Ceremony takes place in the National Stadium of Ulan Baatar while the horse racing and archery is found in Yarmag.
