Seattle Travel Information

Seattle is located in the northwest of the United States of America in the state of Washington, Seattle is an impressive city with a beautiful harbour. The spectacular city skyline is filled with skyscrapers including the well-known Space Needle building. There is a wide array of city parklands, which offer beauty and wildlife within the bustling metropolis, a great holiday destination for the millions of tourists that flock to this area each year.

Being located on the coastline Seattle has a wide selection of water activities to enjoy. The Waterfront Activities Centre has a huge lake with canoes, rowboats and small sail boats available for hire. The lake is home to an array of birds, geese, ducks and swans, which makes for a relaxing atmosphere.

Seattle Tourist Attractions

The downtown area is home to the Seattle Art Museum, which has over a billion dollars worth of art pieces on show. Also Pacific Science Centre is filled with interesting hands-on exhibits and interactive displays.

For some outdoor activities head to one of the city's many parks. Greenlake is located in the north of the University district and has scenic trails around the massive lake that are perfect for walking, jogging and rollerblading.

The city has a great choice of fantastic restaurants available, particularly in the downtown district. There are all flavours from around the world, including Vietnamese, Mexican and Italian. American steakhouses and seafood restaurants are in abundance, offering great food with a friendly family atmosphere.

Transport Around Seattle

There are numerous options for getting to Seattle with the easiest being by plane. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is only a 25 minute drive from the city centre and has daily flights to all corners of the globe. By train Amtrak offers routes to a number of destinations across the country. Greyhound, Shared Route and Quick Shuttle all offer bus services to most major cities. If driving into Seattle, the Interstate 90 is the best route but be warned of the traffic in the city.

Seattle is a fairly safe city with petty theft and pick-pockets the only real concern. The main tourist areas of downtown and central are safe to walk through but at night it is advised that you keep to well-lit areas. Theft from motorcars is on the rise so be sure not to leave any valuables in your car. For these reasons and general peace of mind whilst on your holiday, we recommend that you have travel insurance for you and your family.
