Phoenix Travel Information

Phoenix is the capital of Arizona in the United States of America, Phoenix is also the most populated city in the southwest of the country. Situated in the unique Sonoran Desert, Phoenix surprisingly has much water, which comes from the Salt and Verde Rivers in the state's midwest. Phoenix experiences warm weather throughout the year with hot summers and rather mild winters making it a very popular place for tourists to visit on holiday.

There are some great outdoor activities to enjoy whilst in Phoenix including Phoenix Mountains Park, which has some challenging treks and climbs across the scenic terrain. Desert Storm Tours offers fantastic adventures through the beautiful Sonoran Desert.

Phoenix Tourist Attractions

In downtown Phoenix, the magnificent Herberger theatre complex has some enjoyable plays and shows throughout the week. The Arizona opera company operates out of Phoenix on 12th street in the city centre and presents five major productions per year.

The downtown area of Phoenix has a choice of great restaurants with many styles of cuisine available. The city is famous for its southern and Mexican-style food with a Sonoran touch. On the main street of downtown you will find the 'Old Town Tortilla Factory', which is very popular for its tasty Mexican food.

Transport Around Phoenix

Located just three miles from the downtown area is the Phoenix Sky Harbour International Airport, which is serviced by many national flights and also some nearby cities outside America. Amtrak trains service travel to the nearby city of Maricopa, which is approximately 25 miles south of Phoenix. Greyhound, GotoBus and TUFESA Bus Lines all have buses and coaches arriving in Phoenix every day. If driving to Phoenix, Interstate 10 enters from the south and west, Interstate 17 comes from the north and US Route 60 travels in from the east.

Phoenix is relatively safe during the day but at night some parts of town should be avoided or extra care taken. For general peace of mind and to ensure a relaxing holiday we strongly recommend taking out travel insurance for you and your family before departing.
