Atlanta Holiday Guide

Atlanta Travel Information

As the bustling capital of Georgia and a past host of the Olympic Games, Atlanta retains a lively atmosphere and cosmopolitan culture. The famous Five Points, the main heart of the city, forms the city centre where you can find a host of tourist attractions including the Sweet Auburn, featuring the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site and the magnificent African American Panoramic Experience.

If you feel like visiting the oldest neighbourhood in the city, head to West End, located - you guessed it - west of downtown. When the sun goes down, West End transforms into one of the most popular nightlife venues in Atlanta. Just a stone's throw away from Five Points is the famous Underground Atlanta, a splendid shopping mall dating back to the 19th century and a must for tourists.

Atlanta Tourist Attractions

Holidaymakers will always find something to do in Atlanta. Sweet Auburn is an ideal place where you can dine in authentic soul food restaurants. Those into nature should make a beeline to Georgia's Stone Mountain Park with its many charming lakes. Get on a sky lift, hold your breath and go to the top of the peak to enjoy breathtaking views of the city.

Transport Around Atlanta

If you have covered all the hotspots in Atlanta it's time to head out and experience a bit of old school Southern hospitality. Marietta is a lovely town about half an hour from Atlanta boasting small cafés, peaceful streets, many pretty parks and the Kennesaw Civil War Museum. But if the idea of looking at war exhibits is too depressing for you drive to Buckhead, a suburb of Atlanta, and mingle with the richest people in the city or visit the Atlanta History Centre and Atlanta History Museum.

As with all big cities, Atlanta is usually very crowed and swarmed by people with bad intentions. Keep an eye out for your belongings, especially when you are at bars and popular tourist attractions. It is strongly recommended that you purchase travel insurance for you and everyone in the family before you leave home.
